Time to test your PFDs!....

In all the info I've read about testing inflatable PFDs, I haven't seen anything about how long one can last, undeployed, before it should be replaced. Also, any ideas about whether firing off the inflator, then replacing the system, will compromise the inflatable?  Michael Henk

I have been using inflatable PFD's for over ten years. I have only had one that failed a twenty four inflation test. That one was a fanny pack manual inflation one that developed a leak near a fitting. You might query that maker of your inflatable with your second question. S.A.Liroff4/28/2005 4:24:52 PM
