MELBOURNE-OSAKA

  #

Brian Petersen and John Bankart, sailing the Elliott 45 Maverick II took line honors in the 2003 edition of the Melbourne Osaka race April 21. At over 5,500 miles, this race is the longest doublehanded race in the world, and is a true test of all of the entrants' navigational, sailing, and interpersonal relationship skills. The race website (http://www.osakacup.com) has results and includes some great stories by the Australian publication Sail-World (http://wwwsail-world.com).
