Getting started in fly fishing



Fly fishing is different than fishing with the traditional spinning gear. Perhaps thatís the reason those of us who fly fish got started at it to begin with. Fly fishing is a little more challenging that fishing with standard spinning or casting equipment. But itís not as difficult as you may think. The most difficult thing the beginning fly angler faces is getting that misnomer out of his or her mind. 

Another misleading notion is that fly fishing is for the rich. Oh sure, you can step into a fly shop and spend $1,000 on a rod and reel alone, and perhaps when you truly fall for the sport, you may want to do just that. In reality, to get started in fly fishing, it will take about $100 for equipment, and then the time to practice casting.    more...
