Officials remain quiet on Devils Lake


WASHINGTON -- A team of North Dakota scientists traveled here for a meeting with White House officials on Thursday, presenting a detailed defense of the Devils Lake outlet.

But the administration has still not taken sides in a dispute over the project between North Dakota and Canada.

The meeting was attended by Canadian officials and held at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

Michele St. Martin, spokeswoman for council Chairman James L. Connaughton, said the meeting was held with scientists "to bring clarity to the issue" but added that "no party has made any commitments at this point."   more...
