Deal reached for pollution cleanup at Bay Harbor resort


TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) -- A deal has been reached to clean up pollution oozing into Lake Michigan from cement kiln dust piles on the grounds of the Bay Harbor luxury resort, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday.

CMS Energy, a partner in developing the resort in the mid-1990s, will take interim steps to control releases of contamination while conducting studies to figure out a long-range solution. CMS sold its interest in Bay Harbor in 2002, but remains responsible for environmental cleanups at the site.   more...
