Bill's aim: Protect even tiny wetlands

Tiny wetlands dot Michigan's landscape. But unless they're bigger than five acres or directly connected to a lake or river, they get no regulatory respect.

That would change under legislation timed to coincide with Earth Day observances.

Small wetlands on public property would be protected under a bill introduced by state Rep. Paul Condino, D-Southfield, who announced it at an Earth Day gathering on the banks of the Rouge River Tuesday.   more...
