PC man arrested after boating incident

A Port Clinton man had little luck Wednesday out on the Portage River -- first he lost his friend's boat, then he was arrested. Richard A. Long, 49, of 3095 W. Wayne St. was charged by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after a run-in with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard officials at Station Marblehead say Long borrowed his friend's 10-foot aluminum boat to head out into the Portage River on Wednesday afternoon. About 500 feet out the engine fell off, and Long paddled it to shore. His mistake, however, was not tying the boat up, according to Coast Guard reports. more...
