Teen Drowning Painfully Reiterates Lesson

  #

A 17 year old trespassing with friends on a private lake drowned this weekend, WDIV Channel 4 reported. The Indiana boy was visiting with friends and apparently was pulled under the water after diving from a swim platform on Woodpecker Lake in West Bloomfield Township.

"They weren't aware of the depth of the water. And the platform that the victim dove off of was too shallow for diving," said Capt. Joe Slawek of the West Bloomfield Fire Department.

The incident reiterates the importance of swimming in only designated, public areas. Private lakes are not normally supervised by lifeguards.  more...
