Venetian Festival offers variety of worthy events


The Nautical Mile's Venetian Festival is in full swing.

Special Olympics PWC riders helped kick off the mile-long party by ending their annual ride in St. Clair Shores last Friday.

After stopping at the Idle Hour Yacht Club, the riders got their second wind as these ladies and gentlemen rode their PWCs from Mackinac to Lake St. Clair, raising funds all the way.

Ken Baker, as he proclaimed himself, "The world's greatest fisherman," said they had a goal of $150,000 and will exceed that this year. Baker, who ran his boat Pay Dirt as a support boat, said it was the first time he could remember the winds were low and it was smooth all the way.
