The 19th Annual Spring Boating Expo cruises into the Suburban Collection Showplace March 17-20.

Onsite will be Deadliest Catch Crew - Mike Fourtner & Travis Lofland crew members from the Time Bandit from the Deadliest Catch show on the Discovery Channel will be at the Spring Boating Expo Thursday through Sunday to talk about fishing on the great Bering Sea and to meet and greet show goers.  They will also help celebrate St. Paddy’s Day at the show, participate in a Wing Eating Contest, and participate in the Piñata breaking to see who will win a trip to Mexico.  (Full press release and great photos at www.springboatingexpo.net  more

LIGHTHOUSE: Mark Brochu, director of St. Clair County's Parks and Recreation Department, talks about the renovations needed to the tower at the Fort Gratiot Light Station in Port Huron.Just before a walk through the Fort Gratiot Light Station grounds, Mark Brochu grabbed a chain and wrapped it around a gate to block the entrance. The director of St. Clair County's Parks and Recreation Department said if he didn't do that, he'd have people pulling in to look at the lighthouse and its six outbuildings -- just as a passing bike rider had done before he shut the gate."It's popular," he said. Michigan Boating Industries Association Reports aTTENDANCE UP 25% AT THE 18th Annual Spring Boating Expo

                March 16, 2010, Livonia, MI – The 18th Annual Spring Boating Expo, which ran March 11-14 at Rock Financial Showplace finished up 25% with a total of 14,135 people attending.  In addition to increased attendance, show management noted many exhibitors reported increased sales compared to the prior year’s event.  Show management feels the attendance and sales increases were due to pent-up demand and signs of an economic turnaround.  more
